Stephen Kozak
A self-taught stained glass artist with nearly 50 years of experience, Steve Kozak previously owned Artisans Stained Glass Studio in Niles, IL (1997–2005). Specializing in custom-designed windows, cabinet doors, door sidelights, and lamps, he also provided expert repair and restoration services, both onsite and through removal, repair, and reinstallation.
His studio operated as a full-service retail space, offering stained glass sheets in various colors, textures, and manufacturers, along with tools, grinders, supplies, and finished stained glass pieces, including panels, sun catchers, and fireplace screens. Steve also shared his expertise by teaching five classes per week for all skill levels and has previously instructed at Oakton Community College, Wilmette Park District, and Adult Education programs. Steve’s extensive career includes serving as the exclusive stained glass artist for Historic Boulevard Services, Inc., owned by William Lavicka, and contributing to Habitat for Humanity International, where he collaborated with residents to design and install stained glass windows and doorways in low-income housing projects in Chicago.
Currently, Steve provides repair and restoration services for an antique dealer in Chicago. He continues to create custom-designed stained glass windows, cabinet doors, and entry door sidelights, offering restoration services onsite when possible or through full removal and repair. His unique designs often incorporate 3-dimensional objects into stained glass, bringing an innovative touch to this timeless art form.
