Diane Kotin

DIANE KOTIN expresses herself in many media: watercolor, pastel, charcoal,
graphite and colored pencil, and pen-and-ink. Her evocative still-lifes and sensuous
flowers have been on display in North Shore art shows, restaurants, and coffee houses
since 1994.

Her works were also exhibited in a solo show at mGallery in DuPage County.
The group art events in which she has participated include exhibitions at both the first
and second floor galleries at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center and the Chicago Botanic
Garden’s Drawing From Nature Exhibit (2017 and 2018), the Wilmette Public Library
Juried Art Show, The Levy Center, Studio 211 Noyes Cultural Arts Center, and Woman's
Club of Evanston, where she garnered three awards. Since 2016, her paintings have
been published in seven editions of the juried East On Central publication.
The Jersey Shore native, who has been painting for over 40 years, has studied art under
Jack and the late Elise Pike Lerman at Studio 211 and at the Art Institute of Chicago,
American Academy of Art, Halstead Portrait Studio, Leslie Hirshfield Studio, Evanston
Art Center with Ann Ponce, and Studio IV with Steve Allrich. Diane comes from a family
of artists, including her uncle, Albert Kotin (1907-1980), who belonged to the New York
School's first generation of Abstract Expressionists in the 1950s.
Diane spent almost three decades in broadcast programming, working at ABC 7
Chicago and CBS 2 Chicago. As program manager at CBS, she managed all of the
syndicated programs and cultivated long-term relationships with the syndicators.
Academic credentials include a B.A. degree in Russian Studies from Rutgers University
and a Master of Library Science from Indiana University.
Diane works from life, drawing inspiration from the physical presence of her subjects.
Her original artwork and frame-worthy greeting cards are available for purchase, and
many of her original works reside in private collections throughout the United States.
Diane’s passions include painting, playing the piano, reading, and the company of
friends and her precious pooch, Teddy.
