Ila Allen of Ila Allen Designs is a long time resident of Evanston but new to the Artist Hand Made venue. She creates different styles of handbags in various fabrics such as vegan leather, cork, and other textures. The fabrics are combined in an array of color and physical textures, with no two bags being alike. All the bags are hand made by her, not by a factory, or in a manufacturing environment. The main objective according to Ila, “Show the customer that accessories especially handbags can be created out of other fabrics other than (animal) leather. It’s all about sourcing the right fabric, quality, and a whole of creativity”.
